The product facts behind the view.
- AIU publishes habitational, hospitality, healthcare-property, X-Wind and violent-attack programs. [1]
- Its property descriptions address features such as older or frame construction and non-sprinklered risks, subject to underwriting. [1]
- The Resources FAQ requests ACORD 125, an AIU statement of values and five years of loss runs for submissions. [2]
- AIU’s homepage lists a $6 million habitational minimum per location, while its Resources FAQ lists $7 million. Confirm the applicable current threshold before relying on either. [1] [2]
Questions to resolve before binding.
Use these illustrative scenarios to review a proposal. They are questions to ask, not statements that a loss is covered.
A property sits between the two published habitational minimums
What current threshold is underwriting using, and is that location acceptable?
A storm affects several insured locations at once
How do blanket limits, catastrophe sublimits, aggregates and deductibles apply across the schedule?
A venue asks for violent-attack protection
Which event definition, victim-related benefits, property losses and liability coverage are actually included?
A better submission starts here.
Hedge’s preparation guidance for this placement:
- Provide the complete statement of values, construction, age, protection, occupancy and five-year loss history for each location.
- Identify wind, flood and earthquake exposures, requested deductibles and lender requirements.
- Ask underwriting to resolve the published habitational minimum and confirm how blanket limits, sublimits and aggregates apply to the schedule.
Include the named insured, locations, requested lines and limits, effective date, existing applications and available loss information. Start with what you have; we can identify what is missing.
Legal entities and underwriting.
The market name, licensed producer and insurance company can be different entities. These are the names and roles identified in the cited disclosures.
Amalgamated Insurance Underwriters, LLC [3]
Website operator and commercial-program underwriting business
AIU’s resources identify a group of domestic and London carriers, rather than one insurer for every placement. The issued proposal and policy need to identify participating insurers, limits and shares. [2]
Registration and license details identify an entity and its role. They do not by themselves establish that a particular product, state, limit or account is eligible.
The practical questions.
How do I get a quote with Amalgamated Insurance Underwriters?
Choose “Get a quote with Amalgamated Insurance Underwriters” and tell us about your client. Hedge carries your market selection into the submission, helps complete the account and works on the available terms. You can review the proposal before making a coverage decision.
Does this profile confirm my account is eligible?
The published specialties are a starting point. State, business activity, loss history, requested coverage, limits and effective date can change eligibility. The sources used here do not provide a complete state-by-product matrix. The actual proposal and policy forms determine coverage.
Is this an independent rating of Amalgamated Insurance Underwriters?
No. Hedge is an insurance intermediary and has a commercial interest in helping agents place business. Our commentary explains the placement questions we draw from the cited material. It does not report a customer satisfaction score, firsthand claims experience or an endorsement by Amalgamated Insurance Underwriters.

What stands out, and why it matters.
Start by resolving the minimum account fit.
The AIU homepage quotes a $6 million habitational minimum per location. [1] [2]
Its separate FAQ quotes $7 million, so do not assume the lower number will be accepted. Clarify the applicable program threshold before building a submission around a property that may sit outside the intended size.
A headline blanket limit is not the whole limit analysis.
AIU advertises blanket property limits and says locations in a large schedule are individually underwritten. [2]
Ask how location limits, catastrophe sublimits, aggregates, deductibles and insurer participation operate together. A large headline number should not replace the schedule and policy provisions that apply to the client’s own loss.
Violent attack is a different conversation from property alone.
AIU lists a violent-attack offering with property and liability components for public venues. [1]
Describe the venue, occupancy, security and events, then compare its trigger and benefits with existing liability and property insurance. Do not assume ordinary GL supplies the same protection merely because a venue already has liability cover.
